Let’s Not Make It Be One Night Only

It was a wonderful night. A warm, fuzzy night. A comfort-blanket night. A night of nostalgia, friendship, love, support, childhood bonds and immense talent. A night that said: ‘Those who have danced together stay together.’
It was One Night Only, the show put together to raise funds for life-prolonging medication for Samantha Lines, who is suffering from cancer and whose medication is no longer available on NHS. I watched a bit of BBC breakfast this morning.  The wonderful Victoria Wood was on, talking about a TV film she’s made which is going out over Christmas, called The Day We Sang.  She was being asked whether she was afraid or daunted by writing and directing it – as if she’s never written or directed anything before!  I mean, can these interviewers be any more patronising? – and she said that as director you’re at the top of a pyramid of very talented people; “…standing on the shoulders of the choreographer and musical director who are doing a sterling … Read the rest »

Tip Top Tip Toe Show

Last Saturday evening I treated myself to a night out in Basildon!  I was in the audience to see SHAKE IT OUT, a show performed at the Towngate Theatre by Tip Toe Stage School of South Ockendon.  And what a show it was!

Throughout the years I’ve been to many, many theatre and dancing school shows.  Some excellent and others… well, more rehearsal wouldn’t have come amiss, to put it politely.  But Shake It Out was fabulous on every level.
