Joanne C Hillhouse Is Coming to my Blog!

I am really pleased and excited to announce that the wonderful, award-winning Antiguan writer Joanne C. Hillhouse has agreed to be my guest-blogger over the next few months.  Joanne is a well-known journalist, poet and the author of three novels – Dancng Nude in the Moonlight, the Boy from Willow Bend and Oh, Gad!  I can’t wait to read her first blog – I’ll let you know when it’s coming so WATCH THIS SPACE!!

I’ve been enjoying my wonderful Christmas presents.  Santa was very thoughtful with them and very good to me this year.  I’ve used my slow cooker several times – oh my God!  how gooooooood can slow cooked lamb taste? – almost finished my Agatha Christie, put out my gorgeous, gorgeous Jo Malone candle, worn my beautiful watch and autographed copies of Sweet Lady with my new pen!!

I actually can’t believe that Christmas and New Year have come and gone.  Usually it seems to drag out a bit, but this year – it was here and then it wasn’t!   And now that we’re well into 2013 – well four days! – I HAVE TO get back to Singles in India.  IIt’s been far too long since I worked on it and at the moment I’ve got lots of social things on for the next three weeks (which is great!) but I have to get the discipline back to sit and write.  Because writing’s what I do!  it’s too easy to get into the I’ll-just-put-on-the-tv-while-I-have-a-coffee habit.  I can’t believe some of the stuff I’ve found myself watching lately to then suddenly discover that three hours have gone.  Three hours that I could have spent writing.  Mind you, I have to admit that I love Homes Under the Hammer.  I also watched a couple of episodes of Wanted Down Under.  It was so awful it was compulsive viewing because the people in it were unbelievable.  Basically the format is that family say they want to emigrate to Australia and get a week’s free holiday to decide whether they like it or not.  Amazing to see whinging Glaswegians who live in a small terraced house criticising beautiful, large, open-planned homes with pools as “dreadful” and “not what I could live in”.  So why am I watching it???

Okay – TV off!  And back to the keyboard.  Singles in India is taking shape!
