Maisie and Em – We Have Lift-off!

What a fabulous piece of news I had from my pal Heather Doram yesterday!

Regular readers will know that Heather and I appeared in the Women of Antigua production When a Woman Moans in 2011 and 2012 as two characters called Maisie and Em in two sketches I had written especially for the shows.  They were very well-received and feedback was that the sketches and characters formed a fabulous base for a TV series.  We both loved that idea – one we totally agreed with – and a young, dynamic Antiguan film-maker, Lawson Lewis, agreed to join us and we made a couple of short clips late last year – they’ll be available through my website and Youtube as soon as Lawson’s finished editing them.  (No pressure, Lawson!!)

Finally Heather, wonder-woman that she is – has got a serious sponsorship offer for two six-episode series.

I AM ECSTATIC!

I am also nervous – can’t stop the doubts.  Will the script be funny enough?  Will I have enough ideas?  Will it actually come off?  Will I get paid in full for my work this time?

The answer to all of these questions has to be a resounding YES!!!   I now have the opportunity to show what I can really do.  And it’s not as if I’ve never written for TV; I already have Paradise View under my belt.

So, suddenly, I’m dusting off the half-written episodes and having e-conferences with Heather – thank God for Skype!

Unfortunately, it means Singles in India has to go onto the back burner for a short while, but, Dear Reader, I know you understand.

Stay warm!
