I’m delighted to introduce our guest today:  Angela Bradshaw!

Angela Bradshaw wants to live in a world where everyone has beautiful posture.

As a teacher of the Alexander Technique, she’s been educating people on the merits of natural poise and balance, through her programme of Self Care Skills. Angela believes that the ultimate life skill is learning how to take care of ourselves as a whole: How we function, how we ‘use’ our bodies, how we think – all are required for health and well-being. Angela’s teachings demonstrate how to get the basics right so that we can function at our best and create the conditions to fulfil our potential.

When she’s not teaching, you can find her cooking, running, doing yoga, or running her daughters around.

Her recently released book, Be In Balance, is a fun read and simple introduction to her work.

And so to holiday business!
ES: Where did you spend your last holiday and why did you choose to go there?

AB: We hired a villa in Florida in April this year and enjoyed 2 weeks visiting Disney World and Universal Studios with our teenage daughters and my parents. For us it was a trip down memory lane, a revisit of a similar trip we made when our daughters were younger. It was fun, exhilarating and exhausting, but most importantly a wonderful and memorable time.

ES: What’s your favourite type of holiday?

AB: I’m a beach babe, so anything involving sun, sea and sand makes me very happy!

ES: And your least favourite?

AB: I love any sort of change and adventure but when the weather is cold and wet, that can be miserable. Camping doesn’t hold much allure for me unless somewhere very hot!

ES: Where did you spend your best ever holiday and what made it so memorable?

AB: My best ever holiday so far was a trip to South Africa for my 40th birthday. It’s the most beautiful country. We had some amazing experiences including Cape Town, Table Mountain, the wine regions, the Garden Route, fabulous safari in Shamwari, a private Game reserve, whale watching, a bracing Boxing Day walk along the unspoilt coast. Spectacular scenery, wonderful people, beautiful food, incredible history. Amazing.

ES: Any holiday or travel disasters?

AB: Jersey when my eldest daughter was very young! Terrible weather, hotel like Fawlty Towers, expensive, and not so interesting. Disappointing for us, as I love Guernsey and had many great holidays there as a young child, so was expecting similar, but it’s a very different Channel Island in my opinion!

ES: Tell us about a place you long to visit and the reasons why.

AB: On my bucket list of places to see is New Zealand. The scenery looks so beautiful when I have seen footage in films and on TV. I’d love to visit to get a stronger feel of its vibe.

ES: Who’s your favourite travelling companion(s) or do you prefer your own company?

AB: My favourite travelling companion is my husband. We have travelled a lot in our years together. My daughters too, it’s never dull when they’re around!

ES: Ever had a holiday romance? Details, please!

AB: Yes when I was a very young and naive 19yo I had a holiday romance with an English guy I met on holiday in Greece. It continued for a while when we were back in the UK but wasn’t destined to last! When the tan faded so did his appeal 😉

ES: How would you spend your dream twenty-four hours if you could travel to multiple, worldwide destinations with no travel restrictions?

AB: My Dream 24 hours would be, Dubai, Hawaii, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand.

ES: What tip or piece of advice would you give to holidaymakers and/or travellers?

AB: Here’s a little piece of advice, a snippet from my book, Be In Balance. In my book I dedicate a whole chapter on conscious travel which is full of helpful tips for wellness and easier travel experiences onboard Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

“Plan your journey well. Do you know that saying “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”? It applies here! Select appropriate flight times for your body rhythms, where possible. Pack ahead of time and go to bed early the night before so you’re well rested. TIME is a key factor. Allowing plenty of time to travel to the airport is worthwhile, as we all know travel is often unpredictable. Bring along healthy snacks and water and don’t forget your flexible attitude!”

That’s fabulous advice, Angela. Thank you so much for being a part of Hot Holidays! I’m off to buy a copy of Be In Balance!
