However, this morning one of them queried the pool dimensions. He pointed out that the pool we’ve got is 16’x12′ when I’d given them 18’x12′. Oh dear! I was not very happy and was about to get onto Bestway Pools and give them a piece of my mind when I checked back through my e-mails and lo and behold….. it had always been 16’x12′! I’d been getting above myself thinking it was bigger than it was. (No, please, no jokes!)
\nI feel such a fool. They have been very nice about it – given that they’ve done all the prep for the wrong size!! It’s a blessing they discovered it now and not once they’d done the cement base, but I’ve certainly given them a lot more work. I’m sure that although they smiled and said ‘That’s okay. No problem,’ inside they must be cussing me and thinking ‘What a stupid woman!’ And I don’t blame them.
\nThis makes yesterday’s senior moment – putting black pepper on my breakfast cereal instead of cinnamon – pale into insignificance. \ud83d\ude41 \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n
It’s been a stressful couple of nights, too, due to a couple of frogs. On Sunday night I was putting the washing up away before bed when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye – and there, on the front of the microwave – bold as brass! – was a frog! Oh dear! I disabled the alarm and opened the doors in the hope he’d hop it but he didn’t. Well, he did hop it, but along the worktop and under the cooker. Now, I hate killing anything; I think there’s a place for everything in the world and that we shouldn’t kill things. But, after half an hour I decided I’d have to do something. So I got the mosquito spray. Just at that moment Froggie started climbing up the wall and parked himself on top of the cupboards. I gave him a generous spray.<\/p>\n
He leapt down onto the floor next to me and I flew into the bedroom. I could see him sitting in the middle of the living-room floor so I sprayed him again and he hopped off behind the sofa. I decided to go to bed and deal with it in the morning. I shut the bedroom door – then realised there’s a 2″ gap at the bottom and these frogs can squeeze through the tiniest gap imaginable. So I soaked a towel in mosquito spray and stuffed it along the bottom of the door.<\/p>\n
And spent the night sitting up, staring at the towel, waiting for froggie fingers to appear.<\/p>\n
They didn’t and when I got up there was no sign of him. However, when the cleaning lady came later on Monday morning, she found two – yes TWO – dead frogs, one behind the cooker and one……….UNDER MY BED!!!!!<\/p>\n
So, I breathed a sigh of relief, and even though the mosquito spray seemed to have worked I looked up ‘What kills frogs’ and found things such as citric acid – where, pray do I get that? – and also Raid for Roaches. So I went into town and bought some of that.<\/p>\n
On Monday night I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed when out of the corner of my eye, I saw froggie feet sticking out from under the cistern. I dashed and got the Raid and started spraying it liberally around the bathroom. The frog went mad. He leapt all over the place – into the bath, on the towel rack, up the wall, onto the cistern and then – AT ME!!<\/p>\n
I slammed the door of the bathroom and sprayed more Raid along the gap. I could hear him smacking against the door and the walls for several minutes. I plugged the gap under the bathroom door with a Raid-soaked towel to deter him from venturing into the rest of the house and went into the bedroom.<\/p>\n
I closed and locked the door.<\/p>\n
Yes! I actually locked the door. Well, you never know with these frogs! He might have been able to leap up and open it!!<\/p>\n
And so, I spent another night sitting up waiting for Frog-Attack. In the morning I washed at the kitchen sink – there was no way I was going back into the bathroom. And when the workmen came they went in and found him dead on the floor.<\/p>\n
I have now sprayed Raid for Roaches around every door and window. I don’t want to kill anything, but just hope that will serve as a warning shot and the frogs will find someone else to terrorise.<\/p>\n
