Much of my last blog post was about the lovely time I’d spent with two girlfriends having catch-up lunches that went on for hours and what a great time I’d had with them.\u00a0 I love and adore my friends and even if we don’t see each other that often I know they’re always there for me and when we meet up it’s like we last saw each other just a couple of days ago.\u00a0 It’s particulary painful, therefore, to have had to let go of a lifelong friend in the last few days.<\/p>\n
Those who know me can confirm that I’m a particularly loyal friend; I’ll always give a friend the benefit of the doubt and believe that you always offer them unconditional love.\u00a0 Sometimes you may not like something a friend does, or the way they behave over something, but that doesn’t stop you loving them as a person.\u00a0 But friendship is a two-way street and friendships have to be based on open-ness and honesty.\u00a0 And when someone is in total denial – refuses to even acknowledge their part in something then you need to step back and look at the whole friendship.\u00a0 And hearing some of the things this friend has had to say to and about me, has been like a knife in the stomach.\u00a0 You never know what’s going on inside anyone’s head, but when you actually hear the bitterness and resentment they’ve been harboring against you it’s a sickening eye-opener.\u00a0 I have taken a good look at myself and my role in what happened and I can honestly say, with my hand on my heart, that I have nothing to reproach myself over.\u00a0 She, obviously, sees it differently.<\/p>\n
I’m not going to go into the details of what happened here; I’m still too hurt.\u00a0 But for my own sanity and peace of mind I’ve had to let go, with love, to what has become a toxic friendship.\u00a0 I know I’ll never forget the insults hurled at me, and even if it was the drink talking , well, in vino veritas<\/em> as they say.<\/p>\n If I ever think of her again, I’ll try to remember the laughs and the goodtimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Much of my last blog post was about the lovely time I’d spent with two girlfriends having catch-up lunches that went on for hours and what a great time I’d had with them.\u00a0 I love and adore my friends and … Continue reading
