Nicola May

The subject of today’s Hot Holidays! Is the amazing author Nicola May.

Nicola is the author of six bestselling romantic comedies. She lives in Ascot with Stanley, the very badly behaved cat. Apart from holidays her favourite things are drinks full of bubbles, flapjacks and Leonard di Caprio. She is proof that successful self -publishing is possible, and offers a consultancy service to budding authors to guide them through not only getting a book on the shelves but also how to market with results.  for any would-be writers reading this, I personally cannot recommend Nicola highly enough.  Her knowledge help and  priceless.  For more details about this, Nicola and her books please go to www.nicolamay.com

ES:  I’m so happy you agreed to take part in Hot Holidays! Now, tell us, where did you spend your last holiday and why did you choose to go there?

NM:  I spent my last holiday in a beautiful little estuary village in Devon called Dittisham. In fact I based part of one of my books, The Bow Wow Club in the Ferry Boat Inn in that actual village.

ES: What’s your favourite type of holiday?
NM:  I love a sunshine, beach, reading and relaxing holiday.

ES:  And your least favourite?

NM:  My least favourite thing to do on holiday is sightsee.

ES:  Now that surprises me!  Where did you spend your best ever holiday and what made it so memorable?
NM:  I spent a wonderful couple of weeks in Body Holiday Le Sport in St Lucia. The island itself it tropical and lush. The resort has an amazing spa and part of the holiday was to have a beauty treatment every single day – complete and utter bliss!

ES:  Hmm!  That sounds like Paradise!  Have you experienced any holiday or travel disasters?

NM:  I got a last minute deal to the Greek isle of Aegina. Since nicknamed vagina! The accommodation likened to a prison. Cockroaches in every room and a cold shower outside!

ES:  Yeuk!  Tell us about a place you long to visit and the reasons why.

NM:  I would love to visit Hong Kong to experience the culture, the food and the vibrancy!

ES:  Oh, yes!  One of my favourite places.  Who’s your favourite travelling companion(s) or do you prefer your own company?
NM:  I love to travel with good friends. I do enjoy my own company but it’s always good to share and laugh along with holiday experiences.

ES:  Ever had a holiday romance? Details, please!

NM:  Hmm. I met a wonderful man when I was in Phuket who turned out to live just 30 minutes from me in the UK. We spent two glorious evenings together. Twelve years later we still see each other occasionally!

ES:  That’s nice.  How would you spend your dream twenty-four hours with no travel restrictions?

NM:  I would go and lay on the perfect white sands of PiPi island beach – of The Beach fame – with a personal masseuse, glass of rum, a bowl of Pad Thai and a good book to hand.

ES:  What tip or piece of advice would you give to holidaymakers and/or travellers?

NM:  Don’t forget that good old Blighty has some amazing beaches and places of natural beauty. Cornwall, Devon, The Lakes, Scotland…. Amazing.

ES:  I couldn’t agree more!  Thank you, so much xx.
