ES:  Where did you spend your last holiday and why did you choose to go there?

SK:  We’ve just got back from a break in Whitby, North Yorkshire. We visited because I wanted to go to the Goth Weekend, and to see the Scooter Rally the weekend before, so we did a 10 day stint with two weekends of fun at either end of our break. (pic of us at Whitby Goth Weekend above).

ES:  I love it!  That was certainly different!  What’s your favourite type of holiday?

SK:  My favourite kind of holiday is a busy holiday visiting lots of attractions. If I’m not worn out by the end of my holiday, I’ve done it wrong!

ES:  And your least favourite?

SK:  My worst kind of holiday would be lounging by the pool all day. That would just be boring. I definitely appreciate nice weather, but I like to be out and about exploring historic locations and enjoying countryside walks.

ES:  Where did you spend your best ever holiday and what made it so memorable?

SK:  I think my favourite holiday ever was a Mediterranean cruise that my husband and I took together for our honeymoon. It was a week of jam-packed entertainment from morning until night, while visiting lots of different countries in glorious sunny weather. The dining was something special, we got dressed up and it was really delicious. It was a fabulous experience, but the next time we booked on a cruise, it was a cheap one (as opposed to a genuinely discounted one) and it just wasn’t as good.

ES:  Oh dear.  Have you ever had any holiday or travel disasters?

SK:  I stayed in a dreadful B&B in Scotland once. We booked a couple of nights and left after one. The bed was uncomfortable, with a huge great dip in the middle of the mattress. So I slept on the floor because the floor was more comfortable! After a few experiences like that we started to use Days Inn instead! We take the caravan everywhere now.

ES:  Tell us about a place you long to visit and the reasons why.

SK:  I’d love to visit the Amazon one day. I’ve always been enchanted by the idea of the rainforest and its resident animals, with the river running through. It just fascinates me.

ES:  Who’s your favourite travelling companion or do you prefer your own company?

SK:  My husband. I hated the one time I went on holiday on my own.

ES:  Ever had a holiday romance? Details, please!

SK:  When I was 13 I had a very short fling with a boy on holiday. Nothing serious. Just nights out and a few cuddles.

ES:  How would you spend your dream twenty-four hours if you could travel to multiple, worldwide destinations with no travel restrictions?

SK:  I’d like to visit Las Vegas, The Amazon, and The Sahara Desert. Although I’d probably spend the whole 24 hours travelling if I tried to do that! If I chose one to spend a day in, it would have to be an Amazon adventure.

ES:  And finally, what tip or piece of advice would you give to holidaymakers and/or travellers?

SK: Enjoy yourself!
