Elaines Are Gobby

Yes!  It’s official!

I had a text message early this morning from my good friend Mr G, enquiring as to whether I had contacted the Metro with a comment about Jeremy Clarkson.  The answer was, of course, a resounding, ‘No!’ – Mr Clarkson does’t even register on my radar, having no interest in car programmes or grumpy old men.  But I was curious as to why Mr G had asked me that question.

It turns out that ‘Elaine from Essex’ had written a comment ‘that sounded like something you might say’ was Mr G’s reply.  Well, we Elaines are a gobby bunch, especially Elaines from Essex! 🙂   For the record, all I’ve heard is that Clarkson allegedly assaulted a producer on his programme because there was no hot meal for him at the end of the day’s filming.  Well, sympathetic as I might be as a girl who enjoys her food, you can’t go around smacking people because your tea’s not ready, can you?  That’s assault.  And in the real world, outside of the BBC, I think the majority of companies would consider assault to be a sackable offence.

Elaines are also rushing around like a blue-behinded fly at the moment, at least this one is.  Fighting off a cold that’s been threatening to get worse all week, I seem to be running out of days before going to Antigua on Sunday.  I love socialising and I’ve met up with so many friends over the last week and a half – I’ve become a real Lady Who Lunches – which is great!  Love it!  But at the rate I’m going I’ll be glad to sit down on the plane and sleep for eight hours.  An up-grade would be most appreciated.  Thank you, Universe.  And once there I have to WRITE WRITE WRITE!!!  All this hectic social life has meant that I’m about two months behind schedule now.  And it looks like we’ll be doing some Maisie and Em filming in Antigua which is great news.  Very excited about that.

The Daughter continues to have a marvellous time in Thailand.  She’s now in Koh Pangan.  I eagerly await her updates via Skype and What’s App, accompanied by photos of the two of them slumming it on beautiful beaches.   I’m so happy she’s so happy.  That’s all we want for our kids.  And she so deserves to be happy.  I just hope she’s remembering the mantra I gave her: Moderation in all things.  Although, as she pointed out, ‘I didn’t think moderation was a word in your vocabulary, Mum.’

Elaines are the only ones who can be gobby!
