Like a Tourist!

Yes, folks! That’s me! I’ve had a couple of lovely days doing touristy things – although I have been working hard on The Banjo and on a series of guest blog spots that I’ve got coming up. More about them a little nearer the date but I’m very excited to have the opportunity to guest on some pretty fabulous blogger’s sites!

So – I went to a great restaurant – Stella’s – last night with my lovely friend BP. I had never been to Stella’s before but I will certainly go back. I don’t think they get much passing trade as it’s very hidden away! At one point I said to BP “Don’t kick me out of the car as I’ll never find my way home!’ Anyway, if you’re in Antigua or thinking of visiting, it’s very close to the Spanish Consulate in the romantically-named Sunset Lane, and sitting on their fabulous patio (which looks a tad precarious!) you have an amazing view over Dickinson Bay.  The food was delicious – I recommend the dry-fried Italian cheese (can’t remember the name now, too many rum punches) and, of course, BP and I chatted non-stop for two hours catching up on the last couple of months. For reservations: email dinneratstella@outlook.com or ring 268-789 7725.

Then today, I went out in a boat with the Fella. We had a super time; sailing down the West Coast and then across to the Five Islands that give the area its name. We were the only people there on one of the island’s lovely, secluded little beaches, where we had our picnic and swam. We were surrounded by pelicans and seagulls – one of whom caught some bread mid-flight and then went to a tiny crevice in one of the rocks where she fed her babies. Beautiful watching that! And lots of boats passed by with tourists going sightseeing and local people going fishing. It was a beautiful day. BUT! Tonight I really do look like a tourist! My nose is scarlet as is my back and my arms. Yes, I did put sunblock on and yes, I should know better! It isn’t sore, though, just a bit embarrassing every time I pass the mirror. Silly cow! That’ll teach me. Still, it was worth it to have such a great time, even if whizzing back to Hawksbill was choppy. We skimmed over the top of the waves, laughing our heads off.

It was one of those days when you knew you were alive.  And here is a rather unattractive photo proving what a silly tourist I was and showing how I look tonight! (Those of a nervous or weak disposition may want to look away now!)

Burnt!
