Jo Hurst

Our guest today is one of my favourite reviewers and bloggers, Jo Hurst.  I’ll let her introduce herself and tell us all about her Hot Holiday! secrets!

I’m Jo from Cometbabesbooks, I am from a little town near Manchester, called Wigan. I love reading and holidays, I try to get away at least a couple of times a year. I started my blog in September 2013 and have made loads of lovely new friends since then. I am addicted to social media, crisps and wine.

ES: Where did you spend your last holiday and why did you choose to go there?

JH: For my last holiday I went to Sharm El Sheikh, it was the second time I had been but this time I stayed in a different hotel. I chose the hotel as it had so many great reviews on Trip Advisor with the majority of guests returning time and again. I chose Sharm as it had been so relaxing the previous September and in May you are guaranteed the weather. My brother was in Turkey at the same time and the weather was a bit hit and miss.

ES: What’s your favourite type of holiday?  And your least favourite?

JH: My favourite holiday is a beach/by the pool holiday, when I go away I just want to relax. I have been on city breaks to London etc in the past but I still like being able to lie by a pool and read. I would never go on an activity holiday it is not my idea or fun at all.

ES: Where did you spend your best ever holiday and what made it so memorable?

JH: I’ve had loads of wonderful holidays, one of my favourite is Sharm El Sheikh last year with my friend, the hotel was great and we met a great couple, Pete kept us laughing all holiday. Especially around the pool when they played the same cd on repeat all day every day, we used to say, ‘what is the next karaoke classic?’ Safe to say I don’t want to listen to Hello by Lionel Richie or Lady In Red by Chris De Burgh again. We just laughed for the full week and it was so relaxing, just what you need in a holiday.

ES: Any holiday or travel disasters?

JH: No don’t think so, touch wood I have been lucky that way.

ES: Tell us about a place you long to visit and the reasons why.

JH: I really, really want to visit Hawaii and the reason is simple I used to love Magnum PI when I was younger, think I’m hoping to bump into a Tom Seleck lookalike, but even now when I watch Hawaii Five-O, the place just looks amazing.

ES: Who’s your favourite travelling companion(s) or do you prefer your own company?

JH: I can’t say I have favourite travelling companions; I’ve been on holiday with family, friends and alone where I have made friends. Each holiday of these holidays are so different. With family its round the pool with kids all day and early nights. With friends we have stayed out in a bar until the sun has come up, got up at lunch time and then slept by the pool.

ES: Ever had a holiday romance?  Details, please!

JH: Yes I have had a few, think Turkey before they all gained a bad reputation, as for any other info, sorry my lips are sealed lol xx

ES: How would you spend your dream twenty-four hours if you could travel to multiple, worldwide destinations with no travel restrictions?

JH: I would visit places like the Great Wall of China, Pyramids, Taj Mahal and the White House, they are all places that I would like to see but not necessarily go on holiday. Basically I would love a whistle stop tour of the 7 wonders of the world.

ES: What tip or piece of advice would you give to holidaymakers and/or travellers?

JH: Always shop around on the holiday you are looking to book, you can same £100’s sometimes just by shopping around.

ES: Thanks so much, Jo!

JH: Thank you for having me on your blog.
