Our Queen and the Queen of Comedy

Two Queens are in the news today.

One is Queen Elizabeth II, who is 90. Although I am a Republican, it would be churlish not to wish her “Happy Birthday ” on reaching such a milestone.  But her birthday is bitter-sweet for me and my family as she shared her birthday with OUR Queen; my mum, Lily Spires.

Another day, another audition

So, the call came yesterday evening for a casting this afternoon. A bit short notice, but hey! that’s the way the business rolls, I suppose. As always the butterflies are fluttering at the thought of it, but that’s all part of it, too.
Here I am, still waiting for my ‘big break’. At my age! The trouble is that very few – for that read none – directors/casting directors are willing to take a chance with older actresses who have limited CVs.
