Mr Marmite

I was browsing on FB last night and came across a link to the Paxman – Brand interview. Russell Brand, that is, not Jo.  I clicked on it and found myself chuckling along.

You see, I’ve always had a soft spot for Russell.

I love his use of language, his vocabulary and his ability to articulate, especially now that he has lost that foppish tone.  I loved the way he silenced Paxman and was able to come back at him time and time again. He had an answer for everything Paxman put to him.

Did I agree with everything he said?  Absolutely not!  At times he sounded as if he was from a Redbrick University in the 1960s; the needle’s stuck in the same old ‘Come the Revolution’ and ‘Up the Workers’ groove and we have to move on IMHO.  But what I loved was the way he said it.

A claim to fame is that I go to the same hairdresser as Russell’s mum and he’s known him since he was a boy and vouches that he’s a good bloke who really takes care of his mum.  What’s not to like about that?  Add to it the pirate-look I’ve always loved – the long hair, the unshaven face – and yes, putty in his hands!  And for the men who ask “What do women see in him?” we’ll, the mere fact they have to ask it says it all.

As for Paxman?  Can’t stand him!
