A Few of My Favourite Things

Oh the bliss!  The relief!  The just plain LOVELINESS of finally having my furniture out of storage and my own things around me once again!  I have boxes and bags everywhere, both upstairs and down, but I’m going at my own pace, unpacking and unwrapping as familiarity slowly surrounds and envelopes me.  And sleeping in my own bed again!  PRICELESS!  I’m happy to be living back within Greater London, not least of all because I am nice and near Theatreland.  After my bargain ticket to see Handbagged, I was fortunate enough to get another one to see The Importance of Being Earnest, which was great, especially as my friend Carol Dance is in it.  We went for a drink and a catch up and it was lovely to see her again.

It was lovely, too, to have the Daughter all to myself for 24 hours last Friday-Saturday, and we both went to the seaside, to Clacton to see the Sister and for the Daughter to see her aunt’s new abode.  It was a glorious day so we went down the front for lunch and then sat on a terrace with a jug of Pimms.  I’ve grown quite fond of Pimms, which is strange, because Pimms is gin-based and I’ve never liked gin.  Well, until now, obviously!

And once this chaotic muddle at home turns into peaceful order I’m sure my head – i.e. my thoughts – will, too.  At the moment I’m carrying the end of the Cinderella script, the rest of Single All the Way and a further trilogy which is my next writing project.  Is it any wonder I’m in a spin?  But the sooner I get on with the writing, the better it will be. I’m so looking forward to being at Avocado Cottage next week so that I can have a huge writingfest. http://avocadocottageantigua.wordpress.com if you think you might like to stay there.

Tickets for the world premier of Singles’ Holiday at the Brentwood Theatre, 13-17 October have gone on sale and are selling like the proverbial hot cakes!  You can get yours from the theatre website:  http://www.brentwood-theatre.co.uk/showdetail.php?seq=665

My friend J and I finally got together for lunch today.  We’ve been trying to see each other for about four weeks and something’s turned up at the last minute every time.  But not today!  We had a good lunch at the Optimist, Hornchurch, and a long chat.  J is one of my oldest friends, from school, and we still get on as well as we did then.

And some joyful news; the talented Lisa Morena, who does my book covers and website had a little girl, Evelyn Jessica, born on 24th July.  Mother and baby, both beautiful, both doing well. 🙂
