Magical Mystery Tour

I”ve just come back from a great three days in the north west with my dear friend Val.  It’s one of those easy, comfortable friendships; you know the type – you don’t see each other that often yet when you meet up it’s like it was only last week that you last met.  Val is an amazing person – kind, witty, caring and a great cook.  On the first night she introduced me to the wonders of the slow cooker – beef done to perfection and now on my Christmas List (Santa please take note).

The highlight of the trip was the Magical Mystery Tour that she took me on on Monday morning.  Wow!  I can thoroughly recommend it even if you’re not a Beatles fan.  For me – the girl who loved and adored them, who queued for hours for tickets and to see them, who cried herself to sleep the night that George married Patty – it was a trip down memory lane, with bells on!   Penny Lane, where there really is a barber’s shop and a bank (didn’t see the fire station, though!), Strawberry Fields… All the wonderful music playing in the coach and a guide who knew so much about them – the trivia, the anecdotes – all topped off with a visit to the Cavern.  For a few hours I was 15 again!  And that can’t be bad.

And in case you haven’t heard…  Sweet Lady is just a few days away!!
