STONED ……. BIWI!

Regular readers of this journal know that I am an orthodox, card-carrying, fully paid-up member of BIWI**  So when I saw the therapist at the Athenaeum was offering full-body hot stone massage at 25% discount I knew I had to have one!  Lately my back and shoulders have been really stiff and I was in the mood for some “me” time and some serious pampering (you start to see the underlying philosophy of BIWI, right?).

Well!  It was the most divine seventy-five minutes of absolute bliss imagineable.  Sofia, the therapist, used a mix of ginger, geranium and rosewood oils, which smelt just gorgeous and the strength of her hands (my back and shoulders were as stiff as an ironing board) plus the warmth from the stones in the candle-lit room was just what I needed.  I floated down the stairs and out to the car when it was all over.  I felt so well and so relaxed, it was a pity I had to go out to work!!  But the sense of well-being has stayed with me today and it’s wonderful to be able to actually move my shoulders.

And last night when I did my money attraction summary of the day (see www.GetRichLuckyBitch.com) I wrote down the discount I was given in the “Value” column.  So it ticked all the boxes!

It’s not surprising I’ve felt stressed.  We had a letter from a debt collection agency on behalf of British Gas, chasing a bill of almost £500, which they claimed Mum had died owing for gas and electricity.  This was strange and upsetting on several levels.  First of all, this £500 is based on estimated readings in December, the gas one being higher than the actual reading yesterday, 29th April!  Second, I had the account put into my name in December, wasn’t asked for a reading and didn’t get any bill at all for a previous amount. Third, as I dealt with them and they knew that I was an executor and also related to Mum – after all we have the same, fairly unusual surname – why didn’t they contact me about it before sending it to a debt collector?  Given the circumstances, you’d have thought they’d have been a little more considerate.

Anyway – it’s all sorted now, but I sometimes wonder who is running these companies.

Heard some great news about Katie Vale, who made my beautiful fascinator which I showed you in an earlier journal post, has won the Best Wedding Accessories Provider in Essex and is 21st IN THE WORLD!   How about that?  With Ascot and the wedding season coming up, check out her website: www.KatieValeDesigns.com

Last night I had a long chat with Noel Howell, an Executive Producer on The Amazing Adventures of Maisie and Em.  All very encouraging and so great to see plans moving forward and know that it’s going to be made very soon!  Eeekkkkk!!

And this morning, after getting the cheque for winning the wordsearch in the post, I had my hair done – some more BIWI – and then had a lovely lunch with the Daughter.  Greenwich was once again bathed in sunshine so it was disappointing to see Wagamama’s terrace was closed.  So we went to Cafe Rouge where the grub’s good but the service is always a bit slow.  Still, the company was great – lunch with my favourite girl!  What more could I ask for?  She’s very pleased with herself as she picked up her new car yesterday.  Then she had to rush off to get ready for Beyonce.

On the way home I went to visit my Auntie, who’s in hospital,  She’s such a lovely person; gentle and kind, she’s someone’s who’s never done anything nasty to another human being her whole life so it’s hard to see her, so little and frail now and getting a bit confused.  But we chatted about loads of things and when she got confused I played along.  I don’t know if that’s accepted/recognised good practice, but I thought if I started trying to correct her that would only confuse her further.  I shed a little tear as I left her sitting looking out the window at the birds on the rooftop.  Old age isn’t always a wonderful land.

** BIWI – because I’m worth it
