Peeping Tom

Stepping into the shower the night before last, I realised I had a Peeping Tom at the bathroom window!!

Peeping Tom!

Peeping Tom!

Yes! There, looking at me through the mosquito netting was a frog! I was okay with him because I knew he couldn’t get to me. I’d have run screaming if there’d been any chance of him getting into the shower with me. I don’t mind the little tree frogs at all; in fact, I find them rather cute to look at, but anything bigger than them – yeuk! A frog got into the house a couple of years back – one of the Cuban ones. These aren’t very big but their legs are 2/3 the length of their bodies which means they can leap about 6ft into the air and they launch themselves at you kamikaze-style.

I also have permanent company on the veranda…

A family of geckos hangs out there. You can see one of them in the picture. But this morning, there was a really big one – twice the size of this one – and he did send me scurrying inside. #misswuss

But there are some beautiful birds that are always around including a gorgeous humming bird, which I am trying hard to get a picture of. She comes for tea some afternoons. And last week I saw a mongoose in the garden for the first time ever, even though they are all around. I’m sort of okayish with the wild-life. Just don’t like the big boys.

And speaking of big boys – I really enjoyed watching the Monte Carlo Open Tennis over the last few days. It was on early morning here due to the six hour time difference. A couple of excellent matches; Tsonga taking out Federer (YES!!); Murray v Nadal and yesterday, Nadal beating Monfils in the final. Obviously, I’ve had to leave the proof-reading while the tennis is on – no point in doing it with only one eye, while the other one is watching the screen.

I’m much more disciplined today. No tennis. Nose to the grindstone. The Banjo Book One will be with you very soon!
